Oracle 11 Installation error

dear sir/madam
i wish to install oracle 11 on SUSE Linux
Entperprise 10 SP2 to test drive it.
i downloaded oracle and created the setup dvd.

I tried to follow the instructions on
http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub...ll.html#oracle

I attempted to copy all files under the database folder of the installation dvd to the harddisk.

but when i typed
./runInstaller

it does not let me run. I noticed that the script does
not have x attributes. so i entered chmod a+x
runInstaller

then when i run it
it shows:
./runInstaller: line 88:
/root/11gR1_db/database/install/.oui: No such file or
directory

What can I do???

Hi lennyli,

It seems that you unpacked the archive with no access attributes.
Or may be you kept the Oracle Distro on non-Linux (like fat32) partition?

Anyway, try to unpack it again wirh saving all the attribs onto a Linux partition (ext2, ext3, ReiserFS etc).

It should resolve your trouble.

.oui

I had the same issue. I believe the problem was in burning the cd. When I copied the release image to a flash drive I was able to run the installation. Unfortunately, the installation aborted when it saw I was running Suse 11, telling me only version 9 was supported. Version 9 won't install on my system because it doesn't recognize the SATA drives. I'm still looking for a good way to install Oracle 10R2 on Suse.
