option to disable battery charging in ubuntu 10.04


in windows 7 it has a very nice feature through which i can disable battery charging.is there a similar way by which i can disable battery charging after it has been fully charged,any command line options or some software that can deal in a much better way with the battery in ubuntu 10.04.

This might be a long shot, but it would be good to know what brand / model is your laptop. Some brands seem to implement this functionality via a hotkey combination which usually must be enabled in the kernel: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/19487/
