optimizing grip

is there any tricks to optimize grip, it is slower than my windows program.
it takes about 15 min a cd is there any way to speed this up
i am using cdparania and lame

most instant result would to be to disable some of the paranoia settings. if you have perfect audio cd's you don't need to do all the advance scratch detection cdparanoia can do.

How fast is your machine and what hardware are you using might help as well? Possibly you could tweak some settings outside of grip.

I have a 2ghz 512mb ram system that I can rip a cd with grip in about 3 to 5 mins.

If you are in hury, you can disable extra paranoia in cdparanoia (I think it's "-X" option).
