Optimised and fast squid


Hi Guys,

I want to setup a well optimised and very fast squid box, this is what i have

p4 3.0 cpu intel
4gig ram
160 gig sata

Kindly let me know the best way to setup squid. e.g comply or use rpm.

The best way is to use the package manager from the distribution you are using.
A good start would be
http://www.squid-cache.org/

Hi,

Depends on your needs. If you need https support install with a package manager doesn't do the trick. The standard installation of Squid doesn't have https support. When https is needed you have to download the source (wget, browser, ...) and compile it yourself with https enabled.

If you don't need https support install using your favorite package manager is real easy.
