opera wont load

I am having a strange problem. I have opera 8 installed on my SUSE linux 9.1 computer. I was using opera just this morning and now when I tried to click on it it does not load. What could be my problem?

I tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling the version that came in my distribution cd and then updating it using Yast online update but it still does not load.

I can load firefox and konquer but not opera what could be the problem?

What is printed if you type "opera" from the command line?

I had a similar problem with Opera in SuSE 8.2. After an upgrade, I started having problems. Opera wouldn't start on the first attempt; usually started on the second attempt. Opera, for some reason, didn't keep the preferences and ini intact. They'd revert to the default installation options. I eventually made backup copies of those files, as setup a small script to copy the backups to the working files.

Then I upgraded Opera to 8.0 for SuSE 9.2 (from the SuSE repository). Problems went away. I don't know if the problems was with SuSE or Opera, but it's gone now.

what should I do, See in the morning I downloaded some plugins for mozilla/firefox, could these be interfering with opera?

I find this problem strange. Do you know of any way to contact opera directly and ask them this question? I tried looking at their site but I cant find any contact information.

I solved the problem, Some one recommended to me that I install the static version of opera. I uninstalled the version that I had and then I installed the static version of the Opera web browser, and it worked.

The person told me to do this because the dynamic version was sometimes problematic and it caused the problem that I was experiencing.

Well I hope that this helps anyone else with my problem. By the way I downloaded the static version of Opera off the opera.com website.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!

In my system there is no way to run Opera using either dinamic or static install.

It begins the load and then nothing happens. I tried to delete the '/user/.opera' but this didn't solve the problem.

I tried changing the user and even logging as root. Nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

SuSE 9.3 fully updated.
