Just installed latest version of opera on fc4 (java already installed). About 6 start buttons
appear in various menus however when I start, nothing happens (no errors, nothing).

what happens if you just type "opera" in a console
and when you clicked the links, have you checked your procestable? maybe they're running on the background?

I'm not quite sure and I'm not an expert either
but I think you don't have permissions for opera
try running it as root and see if it works
(just type "su" and you will become superuser, then give your password and type "opera" again)
if it works like that, you'll have to change the rights to the operafile

Lucky you : I criused by this post 2 hours ago having the same problem, now I'm back and that with a solution
I tried every idea I could google my hands on, before I found it :
Go to opera.com, in the distrolist click STATIC RPM , download, install.
(Do not click FC or any other distro)
I tested this with static deb since I'm running debian, but the principle is the same, download a package that's now been "colored" to your particular distro.
Hope it helps
