Opera menu doesn't hot track mouse?

What does Opera use for its UI widgets?

It seems to be a very old version of QT (I am using Opera 9.62) Overall it seems to be doing what I want it to (and is far less laggy than Firefox).

My peeve with it right now is the menu doesn't hot-track my mouse cursor like Xfce4 and fluxbox does with their menu.

Is there a way to alter that?

(I Don't have GNOME/KDE installed at all, just XFCE4 and will not use anything to do with GNOME/KDE)

Nevermind.. I'll stick to Firefox and if I want a quick lightweight solution - I'll whip out `links -g` or dillo (version 2 is pretty impressive).

i do agree that some of the features of opera are just amazing, speed is really good as compared to firefox or any other browser, for if you are using it then you've to get into the habit of some of the issues, also lynx/elinks are also good with faster loading but obviously with less functionality!

What is hot-tracking? When I place my mouse on the File menu on the menu bar, and click, the file menu drops down. If I release the mouse button, and move to Edit, the File menu closes and the Edit menu drops down. I am using Opera 9.60 on this machine.

It's just visual UI feedback. The menu doesn't highlight as you move over them. I like Opera but it's the little things that bug me.

Solved

Okay, I did some looking around and figured it out.

The issue was with the qtconfig - since I don't have KDE/etc installed - it was using the default QT interface. I am using ArchLinux (+Xfce4) so that might be why as well.

On the command line: qtconfig

Dialog pops up, select, e.g. "Cleanlooks" as the GUI and then select File-> Save (or CTRL+S) and then File-> Exit (don't 'X' the window- for some reason that wasn't saving the config for me).

Restart Opera and :-o it's pretty.

Edit:

I found this link just after I solved it myself- this might help others who are experiencing the same issues.
