opera install -suse 8

hi

have installed suse 8, did the suse online update and running kde 3.04.

my question is this, when i download opera browser, install it, it does not get listed in the menu . when i install opera off the suse 8 dvd using the yasts software update , it will list opera in the menu under applications. why does opera get listed in the menu off the dvd but not when i download it and install offf the internet?

Probably because yast doesn't have any idea about programs that get installed when you don't use yast.

I suppose that you could install Opera using yast and then upgrade to the newer version. You should still have a menu entry if you did this.

Otherwise you could add the new entry using the menu editor (start > system > tools > menu editor).
