opera install issues w/ configuration file prefixing
I'm having issues installing Opera on my Slackware 10 system. I'm getting the following error message:
root@sbc:/home/tim/opera-7.54-20040803.1-static-qt.i386-en# ./install.sh Files will be installed as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------- Wrapper Script : /usr/bin Binaries : /usr/lib/opera/7.54-20040803.1 Plugins : /usr/lib/opera/plugins Shared files : /usr/share/opera Documentation : /usr/share/doc/opera ----------------------------------------------------------- Is this correct [ y,n,c | yes,no,cancel ] ? y ln: `/usr/share/doc/opera/help': File exists System wide configuration files: /etc/opera6rc /etc/opera6rc.fixed cannot be prefixed Do you want to install them [ y,n | yes,no ] ? (I installed them) What does this mean and what are the rammifications of installing them w/o them being prefixed? Opera seems to run fine now, but I've had this problem before when I installed it and shortly thereafter I was getting an unending stream of the following error message: Warning: Could not save hotlist file. Permission denied. /home/tim/.opera/opera6.adr I was thinking that these error messages are related, but that's only a guess. I hope one of you can tell me more about it. thanks |
