Hi folks. I'm a Linux
. MS Windows has made me soft and I am finding out (again) what it's like to sit at a computer and feel helpless. It's actually a good experience to be reminded once in a while what it's like for non-computer people to sit at a computer and feel inadequate. I used to be a sysadmin for some PR1ME minicomputer systems (I'm really old) so Linux should be up my street, i.e. proper man's computing. I have a lot to learn.
Now for the prob. I installed Fedora Core 5. It worked very nicely. I like Opera. I installed it. Openmotif that belongs to Fedora 5 has a problem, Opera reported. I couldn't substitute one that works cos I don't know what I am doing, yet. I installed Fedora Core 4 and the Opera problems went away. In fact, Fedora 4 seems to work nicer than Fedora 5 and I am sticking with it for the time being.
My real problem is that I don't know how to uninstall packages so I would appreciate being pointed at some reference material that tells me how.
Opera actually installs brilliantly, unlike Firefox 1.5.0.2 which runs but seems to lack the means of registering it with the system, so it is missing from the menus. Same goes for Thunderbird.
Anyway, I'm going to sharpen my teeth and get my head into Linux Admin for Beginners
. Anyone know where to get hold of some Sharp's Treacle Toffee?
