Opera and java don't seem to work together

Just a quick question, has anybody had any luck getting java to work with opera.

I have tried following the faq at Opera's website but Opera keeps on exiting with an error as soon as I have picked the java path and hit okay. Here is the error I keep getting:

Quote:

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM. Unexpected Signal : 11 occurred at PC=0x4FF401CD Function=_XmAddHashEntry+0x15 Library=/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_02/lib/i386/libawt.so
Has anybody gotten the Sun Java to work with Opera, I have also tried the Blackdown java same error.

BTW, I have java working in Mozilla 1.2 in RH 9, so I don't think there is an error in the java files. I also have the path set for Java.

Thanks for any help provided.

What version of opera are yuo using? 7.11 is the latest.

I also had problems getting java to work in opera... the only thing that i found that works was to use the ns4 drivers instead of the ns610 drivers. You know when you create the link or set the path in Preferences->Plugins... i added the path
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_03/jre/plugin/i386/ns4/

notice the ns4 instead of the usual ns610...

also you need to go into Preferences -> Multimedia
and set the path to java as "/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_03/jre/lib/i386/"

make sure you check the box right above that that reads enable java or something like it... you can also check the button that says validate path and opera will check that the path is correct.

Hope that helps,
Geoff

Well I got the java to work ! Yes! After many faqs and help from gpetzold and chiatello. Upon reading the above suggestions I went and downloaded the Opera Static tar.gz. Ran the install script. Then I went into preferences and as suggested above went to Preferences --> multimedia and set the java path to /usr/java/j2re1.4.1_02/lib/i386. This time Opera didn't crash and now I have java working.

Thank you all :)

PS Now I browse with opera with a skin on it that matches my KDE theme.
