OpenSSL headers do not match your library

hi,
im trying to get openssh (v3.5p1) to compile vs uClibc in my "development environment" but it failed at configure step with...

Quote:
checking OpenSSL header version... 90602f (OpenSSL 0.9.6b [engine] 9 Jul 2001)
checking OpenSSL library version... 90607f (OpenSSL 0.9.6g 9 Aug 2002)
checking whether OpenSSL's headers match the library... no
configure: error: Your OpenSSL headers do not match your library
i have already compiled busybox, zlib and openssl against uClibc succesfully (i think
this is the configure arguments im using for openssh...
./configure --prefix=/home/chris/dev/root --with-zlib=/home/chris/dev/root/lib --with-ssl-dir=/home/chris/dev/root/lib

iv told configure the path of zlib and openssl libraries but
i think i need the correct CFLAGS and/or LDFLAGS so that the configure script for openssh can pick up the correct header files for openssl.
it finds the library for my develpment system OK but still picks up the old openssl headers from my host system (rh8)

iv tried setting this CFLAGS environment variable..dont seem to work tho..not sure if its correct..?!

CFLAGS="-I/home/chris/dev/root/include/openssl"

any help would be appreciated.

iv tried setting the environment variables INCLUDEDIR and INCLUDEPATH to /home/chris/dev/root/include/openssl and configure still complains that the header and library does not match.
configure finds the correct library i want to compile against but finds the wrong header files...

HOW CAN I SPECIFY AN ADDITIONAL INCLUDE PATH SO CONFIGURE FINDS THE CORRECT HEADER FILES.

THANKS.

thanks. i just tried what you suggested thinking it would work.
but it didnt. setting CPPFLAGS to -I/home/chris/dev/root/include/openssl and -I/home/chris/dev/root/include gives me the exact same error.

Do you have both the engine and the full install of OpenSSL on you system? I usually just grab the full install to build OpenSSH.
