Hello,

I would like to find a software that would work for both Windows (x86 32bits) and also for Linux (x86 32bits) operating systems.

The aim is to see the CALENDAR (and not the emails!) !! You know... to know when you got a meeting...

I look for an Opensource Alternative to Microsoft Outlook with Exchange Support (for Win32/Linux). Would you know any?

A portable (without install needed) would be too ideal for MS Windows Operating System.

It would be ideal if it would be a quite close clone of MS Outlook since it is quite nice.

First, you are not going to get a perfect match. The combination of Outlook with Exchange is one thing Microsoft did really quite well.

That said, my preference is Mozilla Thunderbird with Lightning. Lightning is the calendar integration module, and the newest version of Thunderbird integrates it by default.

One issue this does not solve is connectivity: the outlook/exchange communication is a MS proprietary protocol. If you have the exchange server EWS {Exchange Web Services) enabled you can use the mudled for using that from TB&L. If not, but the OWL (Outlook Web Access) is enabled you can try DAVMAIL. Both have worked for me in the past, but both have drawbacks.

You might consider using the web interface and using mail and calendar in your browser, if your needs are met. I prefer a local client that can push me an alert that I have a meeting about to start.

I am sure that others will chime in with other options. This one has worked well for me, but I will be watching this thread for anything that might be better.

You might research running outlook under Wine. That used to be difficult and not terribly stable, but Wine has solved a LOT of problems since then. I avoid it because my whole objective was to use native Linux applications.
