OpenoOffice Installation
I've downloaded OpenOffice version 1.01 the tar is
OOo_1.0.1_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz However, when atempting to install using setup, the unpacking icon with the progress bar appears and inmediatelly disapears, the only display in the xterm is "glib version: 2.2.5" see pasted below. The prompt reapears after 10 0r 15 seconds like everything normal ('I've tried as root too ) The required glibc is 2.1.3 or higher bwh5602:~/install$ ./setup glibc version: 2.2.5 bwh5602:~/install$ Acording to the installation guide several windows should appear. I am using Peanut Linux 9.x kernel 2.4.19 and KDE3.0.0 I could not find anything at lest similar on here and the internet. If anyone have n idea or hint, please speak out Thanks in advance ...... Are you uncompressing with KDE? Try Open With and pick Ark. It works way faster than KDE.
You don't have to be root. Just be root to create an all-user folder. Install it there. /usr/local/oo |
Jetblaktz,
Thanks for the answer. I did not use KDE at all, just put it as a picture of the environment I am working with as the installer needs to open an xwindow. I opened the installation package with tar -zxvf everything from the xterm window. In the meantime I will try to install other languaje versions ( the one I've tried is english) or if I can get beta or older version in an attempt to pin point the problem. Regards.... JGV |
