OpenOffice Writer.... Dumb question...

When typing up a storm in writer.. occasional you get a word that wants to autocomplete..

how in the world do you get this word to autocomplete? If you hit the space bar it chops the word off.. if you hit enter it takes you to the next line.. so what do I hit so that it will autocomplete a word??

Sorry for the dumb question but this really annoys me :(

There is a way to configure autocomplete in OpenOffice. Go to Tools->Configure or Tools->Options menu or whatever and find out.

Click "enter" after the autocomplete shows the rest of the word.
Most other keys will cut the autocomplete viewing.

where to find autocomplete options

In Writer autocomplete options are not found in Tools -> Options/Configure.

They are found in Tools -> AutoCorrect Options...

The default autocomplete key is 'enter', but it can be set up to any key that you want. 'enter' can be a bit of a pain if you think that you might really want to use enter to get to a new line and you might get the wrong effect. I have used the 'right arrow' key before now, but its not really that much better.

This shouldn't, AFAIK, be the default behaviour, but maybe it has already been altered.
