Question OpenOffice Writer and Urdu Language

Can anyone provide me step by step guide about "How to write in Urdu language in OpenOffice Writer". I am using Gentoo 2004.2 with kde-3.2.2 and openoffice 1.1.1. I tried a lot but in vain. I searched on google and found the following link;
In this page, the author, in the 9th screenshot, talked about us flag, but i cant find anything like that in my system or in my panel. So will you please guide me in that problem.

You need to install the Urdu keyboard, from Application->Desktop Preferences -> Keyboards ->Layouts.

Then you can add the Keyboard layout applet (by right clicking on the panel and choosing Add to Panel -> Keyboard Indicator applet. Then you will see the USA flag on the panel, and you can switch to whichever layout you want.

These instructions assume you are using GNOME.
