OpenOffice.org

Hi,
I've installed OpenOffice.org 1.0.3 on linux mandrake 9.1

When I start soffice I have this message:"could not open control device /dev/nvidiactl"

Same problem with mankrake package version.

Can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Uh, have you a Nvidia card? Have you installed the Nvidia drivers?

jt1020 05-26-2003 07:53 AM

yes as Nerd2 said did you install Nvidia Drivers for linux?? need more info about your problem....

Jafar 05-26-2003 10:00 AM

Yes, I have installed NVIDIA-GLX 0.9-5 becouse another program, ksensors, require libGLcore.so.1

However ksensors dont'work!

I haven't NVIDIA card, I have sapphire radeon 9000 pro 128

hmm... thats thats weird, i'll get back to you on that...

Nerd2 05-26-2003 03:54 PM

Well, from I less knowlegable linux POV, i would guess the NVIDIA drivers have installed /dev/nvidiactl or something to make OO look for it. I would create a link from /dev/nvidiactl to your real gfx card.

I dunno if that'll work in a linux enviroment but that's what i'd guess

Jafar 05-27-2003 06:39 AM

The file /dev/nvidiactl is empty!

How I can create the link to my card?

Nerd2 05-27-2003 08:15 AM

I've lost my bit of paper with it on , but there was a command to create a link. Can't remember what it was though, soz.

ln -s /dev/whatever/your/card/is /dev/nvidiactl
