OpenOffice.org 1.1.0rc3 - registration msg keeps popping up on program start
Every time I start up OpenOffice, I get the message telling me to register as an OpenOffice.org user. I already am a registered user. I selected the "I am already registered" option, and it still comes up each time. I checked the soffice script that starts OpenOffice, and I see nothing that could be causing it. I don't have an ~/.sofficerc file, could this maybe be causing it?
|
You could try creating an empty .sofficerc file and see if that helps.

Tried that. Didn't work. Anyone else had this problem?
|
If you don't have any important UI settings, you could try deleting your /home/username/.openoffice directory
|
hmmm, I have neither an ~/.openoffice nor an ~/.soffice directory... WTF?
|
Look in your /root directory. The OO config files might have been copied there instead of your home directory.
Good Luck, Ted. |
No, they're not there, either.
|
Does anyone have a clue as to why I wouldn't have an ~/.openoffice directory?
|
Sorry, I don't know. Maybe you should try reinstalling it.

It was very annoying ....
I had the same problem - it went away when I removed .sversionrc from my home directory, then re-ran swriter (I'm using openoffice.org 1.1RC4). I actually deleted all of the open office directories in my home directory (~/Open* ~.open*), but I'm not sure I really had to do that. When I re-ran swriter I had to go through the 'workstation' install procedure again, it recreated .sversionrc and ~/OpenOffice.org1.1.0

Well, I am getting the following error upon closing the program, when I run it from the command line. Not sure if this would help.
Code:
Fatal exception: Signal 11 |
I have a symlink called /opt/OpenOffice, which I point to the release of the moment, and PATH includes /opt/OpenOffice/program.
|
Well, I tried a workstation installation instead of just installing it to /usr/local/ like I had been doing. I installed it to ~/.OpenOffice.org1.1.0 though, just a personal preference thing, didn't want that directory displaying in an ls. I took your lead sgrocott, and created that symlink in /opt/.
Most importantly, I'm no getting that damned registration message all the time. Thank you all for your suggestions. |
