OpenOffice is slow!!

I installed OpenOffice 2.0 beta, from an rpm. It's running really slow. I was just collecting data from the net and pasting it in, and it could hardly keep up. It was getting stuck even when I was just scrolling in a 3 page document.

Is there any way I can boost up the speed? Should I compile it from source?

Hi!

I have OOfice 2.0 compiled from the source. It's working almost well....

That is that I can manage big documents, but it gives me some errors when I try to move an image by the arrows, when I try to open a document saved in .doc format and when I have more than 3 documents opened.

Worst is that it's "eating" my resources.

I have always found OOo painfully slow, both on Linux and Windows installation

Well, I agree that Ooo 1.1.x is slow, and the earlier 2 betas are slow, but I think the recent builds from 1.9.93 - 1.9.100 are getting slightly faster each time, and are approaching the speed they should work at. 1.9.93 certainly ran nicely on my home PC (SUSE 9.2 / AMD 3000).
