Question Openoffice .doc to .docx

Hello! Using OpenOffice.org 2.2, saved a file as .doc, and sent it to a friend using Word 2007. I didn't realize that Microsoft felt like "moving on" and started using the .docx format, so the formatting on my friend's end is completely screwed up.

Anyone have a solution?

try OpenOffice 2.4.1, Idk if it'll work completely, but you'd have a better chance. I know for certain you can edit docx and you can also save as docx (you'll have to look for the xml format in the list of files)
