Openoffice Corruption

I recently installed Red Hat 9 on a new computer and included Open Office. I also updated the version 9 program through Red Hat up2date.

I thought Open Office could open a Lotus file. When I tried opening the file my Open Office screen changed to fonts so large that two letters would fill the entire screen. After that, the program would no longer run properly and the large letters would appear each time I opened the program.

I deleted the package and tried to reinstall it. Red Hat will not allow me to reinstall because it's looking at the older version during the package add process.

I've tried the "force" ,"update" and "remove" commands on the new version RPM package through terminal without success.

I'm new to Linux after using MS since it's inception!

Any suggestions?
