Dude - pressing Ctl-S *does* save the document. If you are asking how to control the default time interval where an Autosave is performed, go to Tools > Options > Load/Save > General > AutoSave Every > [your preferred number of minutes] -- J.W.

yes, i know that. I use sxw as my format, but .doc's are useful for emailing to others (most dont have OOo), and i dont like opening the document and resaving it as a .doc each time. I want it so every time i save it as .sxw, it auto makes a second copy in .doc.

Got it. Would it work to change your default "save" format to be a .doc file rather than as a .sxw file? Tools > Options > Load/Save > General > Standard File Format -- Doc Type (text) -- Always Save As (MSFT Word XP,etc)

Sorry I misunderstood your original question -- J.W.
