OpenOffice and fonts

Hi all,

I'm having a small problem with fonts and OpenOffice. I've added a bunch of Windows fonts to my stock Slackware 10.1 installation on both my laptop and the mini-ITX box I'm using at the moment. I have run the necessary sequence of commands to update the font cache doobrie - indeed, the fonts are recognised by many of the applications I use.

However. I've been experiencing waaay too many random crashes with Abiword, so I've reinstalled OpenOffice. It's an old version, either 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 I think. I've run spadmin and added gone through the usual procedure for setting up fonts with OOo, but it just won't recognise the extra fonts.

Does anyone have any suggestions, other than try the 2.0 betas of OOo? ( Just as soon as they release an official 2.0, I'll be there - but I'd prefer to stick to a stable version for now. )

have not tried new fonts with OO versions earlier than 2.0, but I can tell you that OO 2.0B has been working flawlessly (with MS fonts) for me with SuSE, Mandriva, and also Windows (shh dont tell)!

Update: I've managed to get the fonts working by uninstalling, then reinstalling OOo. I think when I originally installed it I did a local install for some reason - replacing that with a workstation install, then adding the fonts, seems to have done the trick.

Not entirely sure why that should work, but it did! So there you go...
