Openoffice 2.0.1 debian etch database table editing problem

When I try and edit a database in openoffice base, when I click on the tables tab I recieve the following error. I have looked and the hsqldb engine is installed. I installed the server for it but that didnt do anything

com.sun.star.sdbcx.comp.hsqldb.StorageFileAccess.

any ideas what im missing to get it to work. I know I could just use openoffice direct from openoffice.org but I would prefer to use it from the debian repos. Im running debian etch.

Thanks in advance

Michael

I checked out Base briefly, and found it to be not ready for prime time yet ... I hope it moves forward quickly because a small, GUI oriented, self-contained DBMS for Linux would fill a gaping void. If you're into messing around, you might check out ReKall. It's only a GUI front end, so it needs, Postgresql, MySQL, XBase, or some other DBMS to run, but it's fairly mature.

found a fix that seems to work

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-77087.html

In other words, create a link in /usr/lib/openoffice/program from
libhsqldb2 to libhsqldb2.so. This seems to work for me.

I got this from http://lists.debian.org/debian-openo.../msg00219.html

all seems ok now

Well, the current version of Rekall comes bundled with
Xbase, and xbase is conceptionally NOT a Client/Server
model kind of thing, so Rekall pretty much *IS* stand-alone
now ... ;}

Cheers,
Tink
