OpenOffice 1.9

Have just downloaded OpenOffice 1.9. It's a 93MB tar.gz file that contains a load of rpm's.
I installed them on a default Mandrake 10 setup using rpm -Uvh and it installed fine.
"openoffice1.9" starts up the Office front end.

This version comes with a database front end that has either a design view driven interface or a wizard driven interface. There are pre made tables for a variety of more or less instant databases and forms can also be created with wizards or by design.
I haven't tried connecting the frontend to an existing database yet. I'm compiling knoda as I type this. More when and if that works.

M$ Office better watch out. OpenOffice at last can contend on all fronts.

Er... yes, it's a Beta release of OpenOffice 2.0. I have written a longer review of it here:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ght=openoffice

I managed to catch it out, though, it locked up whilst I was trying to do a mail-merge from a CSV file I had output from KAddress (Christmas Card List). I'm sure these bugs will be ironed out before it goes on "proper" release, though.
