Question OpenOffice 1.1

I am running Red Hat 9 and I just install OpenOffice 1.1. The problem is when I launch OpenOffice its slow. But when I launch it with my cable modem on it launches the program within a few seconds.
I know that alot of people are having a problem with openoffice being slow. You might give this a try to see if your having the same problem.

And please if somebody figures out what OpenOffice 1.1 is looking for during startup let me know so I can turn it off.

If you've got plenty of RAM, and are using KDE, try a program called "oooqs". I know it is available for Mandrake don't know about Red Hat. It puts an OOo launch icon in your system tray. You can set it to put some OOo files permanently into memory for a faster start.

Obviously only if you have plenty!!!
