OpenOffice 1.1.4 - Can't make changes to default options
Hi,
Distro: Mandrake 10.1 Official
Window Manager: Gnome 2.6
Recently installed OpenOffice 1.1.4 - I unistalled 1.1.3 that came with Mandrake 10.1 via the RPM manager.
Installation went fine, however, if I make any changes to the options in OpenOffice (Tools > Options), let's say in the "View" section, the changes are not remembered and the settings always revert back to what they were originally.
For example, if I uncheck "Show icons in menus" and then click OK, the change isn't made. When I access the options via the Tools menu the check box for "Show icons in menus" is checked again. This seems to be the case for any option I change - it wont even let me specify any external programs like my web browser, etc....
Distribution: Mac OS X Leopard 10.6.2, Windows 2003 Server/Vista/7/XP/2000/NT/98, Ubuntux64, CentOS4.8/5.4

Anyone got any ideas?
Where did you install OpenOffice to? If it's the default directory of Mandrake 10.1, it's in something like /usr/lib, right? The problem is that OpenOffice can't be configured because it doesn't have permission if it's outside your /home directory. Give it permission or install into your /home directory or run it as root and make the changes, close Open oFfice, and then restart it. Did the changes get saved? If so, it's a permission problem.
