OpenLDAP Problem help!!

I have Red Hat Linux 9.0

we needed a LDAP Server

So I installed OpenLDAP 2.0

I created some users in the Directory

Now I need LDAP Apache autthentication

so i download mod_ldap for this

when i tried to install it is asking for apxs(Apache extensions)

So for this I downloaded httpd-devel-2.0.40 rpm from red hat updates sites

But when i try to install this rpm it is not installing properly

Is the rpm the right one

the rpm package installation starts and suddenly it goes off without any error

Have anyone faced this before

I need to get httpd-devel to get installed or can I get the tar.gz package for this where can I get this

More over How to I test my LDAP users which I created to authenticate

I need to test with some client ,that the user has logged in like windows users logging into the domain

so what client i can use foe this to test the LDAP users which I created?

Kindly help me in the above
