openldap + mysql

Hello Everyone,

Im new to the Linux world. And trying to setup openldap server on Ubuntu.

Im looking for step by step guidance...

I've followed the below tutorial to setup my email server..
https://www.linode.com/docs/email/po...cot-and-mysql/

at this point everything is working fine.. user can login via roundcube, and send/receive email internally and externally..

But all my uses are in the sql database and now I need to setup openldap for user authentication..

Since I already have all the users exist in the sql database, how can I make my openldap to use sql database for the users authentication.
Basically I want my openldap to use mysql at the backend for the user database.

Please share your thoughts, if its possible and how can I do it.7

Thanks

We are happy to help with specific questions, but we aren't going to type up step-by-step guides for you. Read the LQ Rules, and the "Question Guidelines" and "How to ask a smart question" links.

Putting "linux openldap with mysql database" into Google pulls up lots:
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19424-01...ig1/index.html

Thank you so much for your quick reply,

Actually I googled a lot before I post my question but I don't find anything clear which can resolve my issue.
Even the guide you posed isn't very clear either since Im new to Linux world.

Im not sure whether my question is valid or not, but is there any way to change openldap database to mysql database.

Not sure, if I can create a ldif file to that ??

Thanks

Again, happy to help with SPECIFIC questions, but that is quite literally a step-by-step guide, with commands and examples. Understand you're new to Linux, but if you can't understand the guide, perhaps someone else at your organization would be better suited to do this job.

Not sure what you looked for. Because putting "openldap mysql backend" in gives LOTS, including these from the OpenLDAP site itself:
https://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/backends.html
http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/978.html
https://gist.github.com/mahirrudin/9...49484864beba42

You can certainly create an LDIF file from your existing data...write a script to parse your data and create the LDIF for import.
