Openldap and outlook express

I have ldap working and configured on Centos 3.4, I've added a few entires with phpldapadmin. I can search for my entires and get them no problem within phpldapadmin. I now am trying to configure Outlook express to use ldap. I have it connecting to the server no problem after adding ldap server to Outlook express's directory service. My base dn is setup ok (I think). Copied this over from the search info done in phpldapadmin. But Outlook express keeps telling me this name (who I searched for) does not exist in the directory. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this? I've been banging my head on the desk for awhile tring to figure it out. base dn in ldap is dc=example,dc=com. The address book is ou=addressbook. I've tried ou=addressbook,dc=example,dc=com & just the dc=example,dc=com in the base search settings.
Any help would be great
