Opening .mdb files in linux

Ok, I've searched these forums and found some stuff concerning mdbtools, knoda, and some other programs. I have installed them, uninstalled them, reinstalled them, and I still don't know what to do with them.

Once I have Knoda installed with mdbtools, I don't know what to do. I tried opening these databases with openoffice, staroffice, and i even tried with openoffice for windows (using crossover office), but I have had NO LUCK.

I have a mysql server running and I am able to log in but I do not know the commands for opening databases.

is there anything I can do??

I'm running Linux Xandros which is based off Debian.
