Opening links in Opera

Hi all,

I use Opera for a web browser and I also use Evolution for email. However, when I click on a link in an Evolution email, it always opens Konqueror. Where can I change this preference so that Opera is used? I can't seem to locate it. I'm guessing it's in a hidden file somewhere.

Good day!

Mike

I think setting Opera as the default browser should do the trick. I think you should find this in General tab of Options Menu !!

Default browser

I'm not seeing any General Tab. There are preferences to be set but none of them are for setting a default browser. Evolution doesn't seem to have any preference setting for that either. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Thanks.

The preferred browser will probably have to be set in Evolution. There may be some such setting in KDE also, but I don't know if Evolution will honor it.

In Sylpheed-Claws mailer I use the command: /usr/bin/opera -newpage %s under "external programs."

Hope this will help you find what you need.

There should be one in Opera's preference menu...
Where you can choose what mail program to use.
I had to enter the whole path to kmail since that's the one i'm using for my net-mail.
*ain't at his own pc so he can't point where it is*

Changing default browser settings can also be achieved through KDE's Configure Your Desktop (under System, Configuration on the programs menu).

On the Index tab, select Components, then File Associations. Expand the list of text file-types and select html. On the right-hand panel of this dialog box check to see if Opera is on the list of browsers - if necessary add it. Move it to the top of the list. Check the details by selecting Opera then clicking on Edit, and choose the Application tab. This should show the path to the Opera executable in the Command box - ensure that the path is followed by "%u", thus -

/usr/bin/opera %u
