Opening a remove copy of firefox while a local one is running...
Hi everyone,
I have the need to open, via ssh -X, a remote copy of firefox on a server, while a local version is running on the server itself.
But seems is not possible to do or at least i have not been able to do.
Is there any workaround for it?
What i need to do in details is:
Server A running firefox locally
machine B connects via ssh to A and opens a remote copy on firefox on B
both use firefox at the same time (usually server A just keeps firefox open not browsing).
Please make me know how to do it, till now i had to:
ssh into server A, killall firefox, start firefox in remote, once done close firefox and restart firefox on A...
Thanks

In your ssh terminal (Machine B)
try
Code:
$ firefox -no-remote
or
$ firefox -no-local
One or the other should work, I just get *confused* by which is which. I believe it's the first which will work in your situation, as the command is indicating that ff shouldn't load the remote's (Machine A's) profile.
cheers

hmmm...The -no-remote option works for me.
However, are you using Tab Mix Plus, or perhaps another Tab add-on that is forcing FF into single-window mode? If so, then by disabling this option you should be able to open multiple FF windows. It wouldn't be my preferred option, but since the no-remote parameter isn't working for you, it may be something to look at.
cheers,
