Question Opening a .lnk file in OpenOffice 2 beta

I am using a Fedoa Core 4 OS and want to open a a spread sheet that was created in windows NT Excel. the sprweadsheet is linked to other spreadsheets on the network server all under one folder. In win NT they a shortcuts, but when I tried opening them in OpenOffice 2 Calc they come up as *.lnk (windows link file forwarder)files and I can't seem to open them. Is there another way I can open them in OpenOffice Spreadsheet. Help Desperately needed.

Does Fedora have access to wherever the files that are linked to are stored? Also, .lnk files are (I believe) Windows files and so Fedora probably doesn't understand what they are.

the files are shared on the network through LDAP. both users on Windows and Fedora have access to them. the probelm is I can open other short cuts that were created on windows PC. but some came up with the .lnk file extensions. Can I convert this files and open them like the others, Remembering that these file with the .lnk entension are link within each other like a flat database. When I update one spreadsheet's data (using windows ofcause), the others are updated as well.
