OpenGL or NVIDIA driver problem perhaps?

I'll start by saying I'm fairly new to Linux...

Here's the problem: I'm currently using the window decoration GLOcean . When KDE comes up, it will completely lock up if I open any window, which would display the GLOcean window deco. I'm then forced to hit the 'ole reset button. However, if I leave it sit long enough for my screen saver(OpenGL) to kick in then open any window/application, my system runs rock solid.
One other problem I'm having, although I'm not sure it's related, is that all games I've tried to run in Cedega have a weird texture problem. The FPS in all games is great, but the textures completely freak out. For example in a 1st person shooter game, a tree looks normal except that one edge or corner stretches into infinity.

System Info:
SuSE 9.1 Pro
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
GIGABYTE "GA-K8NF-9" NVIDIA nForce4 4X Chipset
Chaintech GeForce 6600GT (NVIDIA driver appears to be working, I get the splash)

Any Thoughts on the problem? Thanks in advance to any comments.

make sure your system didn't sneak back in the mesa libs on you ( mesa is an opengl lib that is more for general purpose use, the nvidia installer replaces these libs with it's own libs better suited for gaming. if the mesa and nvidia libs are mixed, you get horrible texture problems( for me it was always "patches" of black and no detail in textures)).

thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at that and post back if it works or not.
