Open textmaker (softmaker) files in Gnu/Linux?

Hi. I'm running Debian Gnu/Linux Jessie. Today, somebody sent me a Textmaker file, which is apparently a proprietary format put out by Softmaker suite. I believe that it is possible to get a freeware version of Softmaker (Freeoffice), but I was wondering if it was possible to open Textmaker files using some free software already in the Debian Jessie repository. I tried using Libreoffice but just saw garbled output.

Well, you could ask for a copy of the file, saved as file.doc .
You probably got a "file.tmd", if it's a text document.
A spreadsheet : suffux .pmd . And a presentation : suffix .prd .

Softmaker Freeoffice http://www.freeoffice.com/
.. Debian packages are available.
The whole office suite is about 63MB: softmaker-freeoffice_<version>-<arch>.deb
