Open Suse 11 Multimedia Pack Portable 2008

I have created a Multimedia Pack portable for Open Suse, the included programs and codecs are:

1) kchmviewer
2) mplayer, mplayer plugin
3) audacious
4) k3b, k3b-codecs
5) sox
6) devede
7) audacity
8) avidemux
9) ffmpeg
10) transcode
11) ntfs-config
12) vlc
13) libdvdcss
14) w32codecs
15) xine
16) xmms
17) dvdShrink
18) k9copy
19) Gtkpod
20) Acetoneiso
21) Furiousiso
22) DVD::RIP
23) Amarok
24) Kaffeine
25) kmplayer
26) Kdvdcreator
27) K3guitune
28) Kdvdauth
29) DVDAauthorWizard
30) Kguitar
31) Mjpegtools
32) Soundconverter
33) Gdvdcreator
34) Asunder
35) Brasero
36) Smplayer

plus some gstreamer plugins

you can install any of the above without internet, they include all the dependencies, just unzip the both files into a folder named MMP2008 and create a repository from that folder as a simple rpm folder in yast, then make a search in the yast installer with the name of the program and check it to install it, this is very important if you don`t have internet at home, and besides, by default Open Suse doesn`t include several codecs due to license matters.

NOTE: These were tested with Open Suse 11 x86 with KDE 3.5

I created a blog about the MMP 2008 http://easgs.wordpress.com/2008/08/0...-open-suse-11/

Thumbs up Note, everybody: a blog just meant to help us. Wonderful idea.

Linux is the universal benefit mode. Take good care of all, and All takes care of oneself.

Stupid question alert : can I make the avidemux in your package work on Opensuse 10.3.

I am having a tough time getting avidemux and the host of dependencies that it needs to work on 10.3. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

No it will not work, I think you have two options, take your pc to a place with internet access and install avidemux there, if you have access to a pc with internet but it doesn`t have openSUSE installed you can install an openSUSE 10.3 virtual machine there, download the files using the zipper command and then take them home, but I think it would be easier for you to wait the 11.1 version of openSUSE and upgrade your pc with that version and then install the openSUSE 11.1 version of the mmp that will be released as soon as possible after the OS release and will contain a lot of multimedia programs ready to install without internet.

Thanks

Net access is not the problem. I just cannot understand the whole make-compile-config etc routine. It just seems too difficult.
I have downloaded the avidemux package. But just that doesn't do much. I need a half a dozen other packages installed before installing avidemux, and there seems to be no automated way to do this. It is just a bit too aggravating.

Ok if you have internet access do the following

1) Enable the repositories Packman and oss in yast
2) Go to sotware-install/unistall aplications in yast
3) Select search from the combo box
4) In the text box type avidemux
5) Select all the option displayed
6) click in the ok button.

you can download the video tutorial from the mmp site to see a similar procedure but with the acetone2 application, but you first have to enable the repos oss and packman, please let me know if it worked.
