open source virtual machine


are there any open source VM implementations ... like an alternative to VMware ??

Theres also PearPC http://pearpc.sourceforge.net if you want to emulate PowerPC hardware, you can even run Mac OS X with it on x86 hardware.

How well does this really work? Is it worth me installing OSX, or is it too gimick-y to use? Fast? Stable?
