open source equivalent of photo shop?

Is there an open source equivalent of Adobe Photo Shop or JASC paintshop pro for Linux? I need a painting program, the fansier the better. Any suggestions?

Gimp is good but it has a different UI that confuses a lot of newbies. Gentoo should have an ebuild for Gimpshop which is jsut a modified version of Gimp that has a different and probably more universal UI layout.
