Open Office wont load files from PC using SAMBA

HI,

I recently installed Kubuntu. I can see the Windows PCs on my network, and navigate to the files via SAMBA shares.

But when I try to open any file that calls an Open Office program, the Open Office window comes up, the little blue bar flashes across the screen, then....nothing. No file.

I can open other files on the shared drives fine, like jpgs using Gwenview, and txt files using Kate.

I know my .doc and .xls files are compatible, because I can actually copy them via SAMBA to my Kubuntu machine, and load them just fine.

I just cant figure this out, and I've spend a whole day on it !
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks.

Check the system logs. Especially from Samba. Also try starting oowriter from the shell. Sometimes doing that stderr will print messages in the terminal. This may indicate the problem.
