Open Office crashes, help

Open crashes when I try to open a document from a usb stick, this has only occured now that I have upgraded to kde 3.5.2 on SUSE 10, any solutions?

I can read from the stick using cxoffice/word2003 and with KOffice.

What happens if you copy the file from the USB drive to your hard drive. Can you open it with OO then?

yep no problem with that at all, in fact thats my workaround for now.

Then I guess you have an incompatible/bad USB driver.

he may be right.
Run oowriter from the terminal and replicate the crash.
Post what the terminal reports here during/after the crash and maybe you'll get a more specific fix.
