OOOfice fails to start

I've done a fresh FC5 install and OpenOffice fails to start.
When I try it from the command line I get the following error message:
Quote:
$ openoffice.org-2.0 -writer
/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice: line 151: 6755 Illegal instruction "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"
I've read a number of older posts referring to the same problem and it appears the only solution found so far ins to reinstall Open Office. ... so I did and still get the same error.
How can I get OO to work?

Through RPM or from source (the installation. of Open Office.)

I installed from the RPM provided in the core repo.
Funny thing is that I have another box with a virtually identical setup (FC5 fully updated) that has no problem with OpenOffice.

Can you install from source. Maybe it will tell you of a missing file or library that it is trying to use.

I'll look into it...
It's a nuisance though. rpm's are supposed to sort that kind of thing out for themselves.

I thought the same thing too once then found out that rpm's are not always built right. I usally try to compilie from source that way it will tell me what my system is missing. And I know that the installation was for my machine not some package built off of another's pc.

There's a point. Simply have never done it before. Probably about time I started.
