and I'm starting to believe that you just
plain simple f***ed up your OO installation.
The language settings and the pix not
working? Rather than moaning about
the results of your experiments ...
Maybe you should save the documents you need,
and then wipe your ~/openoffice1.0.1.org directory, and
re-install ... if that doesn't fix your problems remove
the whole thing (as root), and start all over.
I don't happen to have office eXPeriment documents
handy. However, when I create a file in OO and add
graphics objects they get stored with the file.
I've just started my office comp into winDOHs, created
a Word2000 document with 2 pics included, saved
to the net, opened with OO on 2 Linux-boxes and
had no problems saving, reopening and viewing
with saved images locally.
This makes me think that maybe the problem you
are facing is rather with the ms office document,
or the way it handles the pics (COM, OLE or
DDE data source?) that then can't easily be
transferred to a Linux-way of describing it ...
