SuSE 10.1... downgrade?
For me SuSE 10.1 is more than a simple step back. I find it far away to what SuSE 10 reached. Excepting the possibility of placing the user’s home folder in its own dedicated partition many other things seem a downgrade.
As an example, what 'borje2' commented about the updates. It is very difficult to add other update sources (i.e. local directories) and http and ftp are not accepted if they to not belong to what the system thinks should be 'appropriate' sources. If this is not a bug then it is intended to discourage users into installing non OSS.
Laptop power management is also awkward as well as the new Network Manager replacing Kinternet.
I managed to make some changes but why should I struggle with something not really what the user wants. At the end I just re-installed the image I created from SuSE 10 before trying 10.1 out.
I guess many of you will disagree.
