Online Sales Website
hi,
few day's ago i registered a domain registered at big rock for my friend who started a small business. It was just a small website kind of sample, now he wants to expand and start online sales on the website, Quote:
forgot to tell you... here are the details. * Domain registered at bigrock. * Not hosting at bigrock, hosted by me on my ESX. * CentOS 6, Wordpress. Apache and MySQL. thank you very much in advance. |
Given it's running on your own servers, and appears to be something you're not already confident doing I would *VERY* *VERY* strongly urge you to use a proper hosting provider instead. Naturally you'd never be able to actually deal with the purely financial side, but you'd be opening yourself up for all kinds of trouble if you're directly responsible for order fullfillment systems etc. Most respectable hosting companies will tend to have drop in solutions like oscommerce ready for you to use. You CAN look at a product like oscommerce yourself, but if this is running in your own home etc, the risks you might be opening yourself up to are significant.

hi acid_kewpie,
thanks for reply, k i'll host the site on big rock, now what should i do. OSCOMMERECE is it a software i need to install on my CentOS? oh sorry ? you mean my hosting provider will provide me this OSCOMMERECE. Ok i'll contact Bigrock regarding this and let you know. thanks |
I suggest that you or your friend consult Big Rock support about this. I just looked at their site and they say they offer "ecommerce" solutions such as Zencart.
Consequently, they may offer easy ways to install the requisite software, as well as support documents on their site. Many webhosting services do. Here is their link about ecommerce hosting: http://www.bigrock.com/web-hosting/e...ce-hosting.php |
hi frank,
i just passed the link to my frnd, he said he'll contact the support and let me know. thanks for your time. |
Good luck.
I did some work for a hosting company. This was just the sort of thing their support should be used to dealing with. |
