Online Books easy to use for Libraries
Hi,
I would like to help my librarian to maintain his books online in our college intranet. Before starting this i thought of checking sourceforge.net or freshmeat.net, but because of my lack of search skills or appropriate word finding, i am not getting a proper link at all
All this is what i want to do>
1. Manage a list of book.
2. Scan the book and convert it to html/php format, and store that information(entire book) on to a database. Based on authentication viewer can go to his dept and read it.
3. Keep a good search base either from author or book titles.
So this will help all students who are in free Hours can read the book without damaging the Original book.
Any helps/guides to find appropriate links will be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm confused - it sounds like you want to scan copyrighted books into your own database and then make them available to the public and/or your library patrons. Please clarify, thanks

No, no, its like our university will release books on their part. Usually librarian will keep that as reference copy. But if students damage it others cannot make use of it. So i thought of an alternative against the damages.
