One Touch backup versus One Touch II

Hi,
I,m thinking about buying a Maxtor HDD with the One Touch Backup software.
Anyone had experience of this system? What is the advantage of One Touch II over One Touch?

I would like to know more on this too. So far I have discovered that the "one touch" feature does not work with Linux thus making it useless. But I have no idea on One Touch II

My One touch came with a CD, on that CD is a software suite called "Dantz Retrospect" which is ported for Windows or Mac, not Linux. The button on the hard drive enclosure will deploy the Retrospect software with one touch. And the installer on the CD links the two.
You may be hard pressed for a Linux installer for a Maxtor One touch enclosure that will link that button to some form of backup software.

Retrospect runs on Linux, but it's commercial, and, if they didn't license it or integrate it for linux with the one touch, that may be a problem. The question is, what happens when you push that one touch button? And how does that translate on linux? Heck, if you could figure that out, maybe you could link it to whatever opensource backup software you wanted.

I have a one touch mini that I bought a year and a half ago. I hated it when I had windows because the software was horrible - it would freeze up for no reason, not run at all, etc... So, when I switched to linux I formatted it to ext 3 and I drag and drop or simply copy whatever I need onto it. Much much happier with it now - no kidding. For me, the syncing software just plain sucked with windows - maybe that's why I got it on sale?
