On Board Sound
I can't get on board sound to work with xawtv, kscd, gnomemeeting, etc. I was able to get a mono speaker ( one of two speakers ) working with ogle. Any ideas why?
Also, I need justification for my boss to but a new sound card for this PC - Sony VAIO. Can I have recommendations. Do people feel that a pci sound card is better, and would probably function better that this unsupported sound chip? Or, if I keep hacken at the ALSA driver, do you think that I can get it to work. Opinions welcomed. Thanks, Robert Liguori. |
Hi!!!
You could try running sndconfig and try to set up your sound card. The best though, is always to have a non inbuilt sound card. I've bought a really cheap pci one called Zoltrix, a 4 speakers one :). I actually choose that one because in the box it stands "Requires Win9x/ME/2k and Linux". Glad with this in the box, which btw, not many companies do it, I got the card for about 12-15 USD and works great ;) |
