omitting icons from PLACES or SYSTEM menus of Fedora 6

Is there a way on how I can omit icons from Places menu. As far as I know, only Applications and System are applicable. Just want to omit icons from Places menu like Network Servers or Connect to servers. Or is there a way how I would disable those two services or icons.
