old Evolution problem, new answer?

Suddenly I'm getting the following error message when attempting to send from Evolution (receiving is fine):

Error while performing operation.

RCPT TO <emailaddress@whatever.com> failed: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable

Whereupon the message just sits in the outbox.
I've searched for this same problem, turned up 3 or 4 like it, but there is never a solution posted. I'd like to know if this is a problem from my box or a problem with my ISP. Then I'd like to know how to solve it, of course :-)

Thanks in advance,

SChipS

My best guess is that it's a problem on the side of the recieving mail server (that is, whatever.com). Try sending to the same address from a different mail server. Try sending to the same address through your ISP from a different mail program (I'd suggest thunderbird, but I haven't used it). Try sending to a different address in evolution. It should be relatively clear from the results of those where the fault is.
